THE STORY SO FAR
Grand Master Black Cat just bought a
warship, the Solaris,
thinking that it could help the Kai Order to
have one. A fellow Master named Orson decided to
buy a warship too and suggested to create a
Fleet with Black Cat as the Admiral. The Kai
Fleet was then created. Captain Orson is now
heading for the sea trials of his new vessel,
the Sea
Eagle...

RE: Sea
Trials and Patrol Report Days
One-Three
Admiral:
Upon
leaving home port in Anskaven the ship set
sailed around the coastline in the Kirlundin
Strait. Upon seeing the entrance to Holmgulf
we steared east toward 'Wrecking Point' on
'The Kirlundin Isles'. The first day and
night past without incident. Upon the second
morning, lookouts saw a ship lying along
southern tip of Hemd Isle about eighty miles
away.
I ordered the ship to steer a
course for that ship sighting. Within fifty
miles the lookout spotted the red flag on the
ship, the sign of Lakuri Pirates. I ordered
the ship and crew to be made ready for
battle. Within twenty miles the black ship
had raised full sails and steered north when
a fog bank suddenly appeared to surround the
black ship and engulf it. Within ten miles
of the point where we lost contact of the
suspected Lakuri Pirate ship the fog had
dispersed and all signs of the ship were
gone.
I ordered the helm to set a course
around the entire eastern coastline of the
Kirlundin Isles and doubled the lookouts while
we stayed the course. As The Sea Eagle
steered west to check the western coastline of
the isles a strange fogbank appeared as if
my some magical art seemed to appear in a
blink of an eye yet the sun had not gone down so
it seemed odd. I was forced to break off the
search of the eastern coastline of the isles
in fear of running the ship a ground on a
sandbar or the isle reef would rip the hull.
I immediately set a course wesr for home
port to report this encounter.
Recommedations: Increase the patrol
along the sea lanes where merchant traffic will
be heavy.
Additional ships out on patrol
will increase our patrol range.
If
possible, assign a warship to 'Wreck Point' to
watch for any ships approaching from The
Kirlundin Isles.
I will have my crew
stand down for the next seven days in home port
unless orders require the crew to be pressed
back out on patrol.
Capt. Orson The
Sea Eagle[/b]

Re: Sea Trials and Patrol Report
Captain,
This is serious news
indeed. I'm leaving Toran right now for Holmgard
where I will talk with the King before sailing
for the Kirlundins where I'll meet
Knight-Commander Baleon Medar. Together, we'll
set patrols with the Kirlundins sailors.
Your story reminded me of the Battle of the Death
Hulks from the Lone Wolf Chronicles
(Chapter 6 of volume II) that we learned in
History classes at the Monastery. The fog is the
proof that someone used Black Magic from the
Darklands, which is not something that the
Lakuri Pirates used to know. The use of the
Lakuri flag by the mysterious ship might also be
a trick to make us believe that the menace comes
from the East, while it might in fact comes from
the West...
You'll stay in Toran for 3
days. Get some rest and then set sail to the
West to check out what the Drakkarims are doing.
They might have something to do with these
recent events.
Good job on your first
mission captain.

Admiral:
My thanks
for the high praise,
It is my crew who
deserve the the high praise. My crew earned some
excellent sea legs and controled their fears
for just a sea-trial and light patrol duty.
My crew are no longer the green sailors
that left home port, but seasoned sailor who
made their captain proud upon returning to
port. They will need the rest more for I
will rely on them much for the times ahead
till this darkness is uncovered.
Also
upon returning to port I saw a warship from the
shipyards was completed, perhaps another
ship will serve us during this search. It
shouldn't take long to procure the ship and the
necessary provisions and crew. We just need
to seek out an able captain that will lead
that ship and follow your orders admiral.
Another vessel will increase our search
range and if need added combat strength.
Captain Orson The Sea Eagle

Captain,
I
already thought about a third warship would be
enough for our fleet. Don't forget that the
country has also the Kirlundins Sailors and the
Royal Fleet to defend herself. After discussions
with the King about your incident, we've talked
about what would be the place of the Kai Fleet
in the defensive system of the coasts of the
country. We agreed that the Kai, because of
their great powers, will patrol the Kaltersee
from the Anskaven peninsula to the Dejkaata in
case that dark agents try to enter Sommerlund.
To the East of the Anskaven peninsula, the Royal
Fleet will share the patrols with the Kirlundins
Sailors.
As for our own patrols, and in
case that a third warship is added to our fleet,
here's what we are going to do: -6 days of
patrolling -1 day of resting -4 days of
training at the Kai Monastery -1 day of
preparation before the next patrol
Every
three days a new warship will start his patrol.
With this system, we'll always have at least 2
ships at sea at the same time.
Congratulate your crew for me: they
became real sailors now.

Smaller and faster boats
could be very useful indeed as we have no
information at all about the Darklands' navy.
Darklords are known to use sunken ships with
undead sailors, but drakkarim ships are not
unheard of... There's also rumors of
gigantic sea-creatures bred by the Darklords. I
think we clearly need spies to get some serious
reports.

A keelboat and 3
rowboats...hum...It might be useful as a
spyship. You'll could go on the Darklands coasts
and use the rowboats to send spies. The only
problem is that your ship is very slow, so it's
going to be hard to escape the
ironclads...Anyway, I accept you in the Kai
Fleet!
So, we have the Solaris
(flagship), the Sea Eagle
(warship) and the Sentinel
(spyship). Not bad at all! |
Quite a multi-mission
task force admiral.
Two warships and a
number of support craft..
Not bad at
all.
Also I'm ready to launch our next
warship pending your approval Admiral
BlackCat.
Awaiting your command,
Orson

Keelboats like the Sentinel have
the advantage of being able to sail up rivers,
which could come in useful.
The row
boats were sent off as planned, we are currently
waiting for their return.

Captain Sky Dragon Kai Scout-ship: The
Sentinel
Admiral,
Mission
proceeded as planned. Left the warships at Point
Vashna and proceeded along the Gulf of Helenag
to Argazad. We launched the three rowboats off
shore from the port. The first two reported
increased Giak patrolling along the shores near
Argazad, as well as a Drakkarim patrol.
The third rowboat, containing two Kai
Lords, crept into the port under the cover of
darkness. Despite arriving at night they were
forced to use their Invisibility to remain
undetected, as there was an unusual quantity of
ships in the harbour. Eventually they reached
the heart of the harbour, where they could just
make out a massive ship, seemingly still being
built. However, it was impossible to approach as
the area around it was crowded with small boats
carrying the Giaks that worked on it. The Kai
were forced to return to the Sentinel to
avoid being noticed. They also reported that
Argazad had a substantial fleet protecting it,
but were unable to give any exact details.
We returned home with no casualties. I
would recommend further missions to capture, or
at least sabotage, the great iron ship.
Unfortunately the Kai fleet does not currently
have enough ships to launch a full attack on the
port.
Using smaller ships such as the
Sentinel
we can also reach Aarnak, and from Lencia we
could enter the Hellswamp to set up a scouting
post to spy on the nearby Drakkarim strongholds.
Your servant, Captain Sky Dragon

To all the Kai Ships
Fr: Admiral Black Cat
Captains,
Our investigations in
the Kirlundins gave great results: we were able
to track down the mysterious ship that Captain
Orson saw during one of his preceding patrol.
The Kirlundin ship that followed our target
reported that it was heading for the South-East
coast of Kalte. They losted the track after a
terrible storm suddenly stroke the ship.
Gentlemen, thanks to Captain Sky
Dragon's report, we are now fairly sure that the
Drakkarim are preparing something, although
nothing is linking them to the incident of the
Kirlundins. We must open our eyes and get
prepared to any eventuality.
One
possibility is that the Darklands are preparing
an invasion of Sommerlund from the West with
that giant ship that is being built in Argazad.
If indeed they are linked to the Kirlundins
incident, it is possible to think that they are
using fake Lakurian ships as a diversion to
bring most of our fleet to the East, weakening
our West flank. Once again, as told in the Lone Wolf
Chronicles (Vol. 12, chapter 4), this is
not the first attempt made by the Drakkarim to
build a giant ship. Supreme Grand Master Lone
Wolf destroyed their first giant ship by
sabotaging it. I think this is what we'll need
to do.
The King will give orders to the
Kirlundins sailors to keep patrolling around
their islands and he will send a messenger to
Hammerdal to ask our Durenese friends to send
ships to look for the possible Drakkarim base in
Kalte. The Kai Fleet will stay near Toran while
the rest of the Sommerlund's Fleet will patrol
near Anskaven and Tyso.
Captains, get
ready for a naval war! And let's pray Kai and
Ishir to give us Victory!

A Super Iron Clad! This
does not bode well.
The Sea Eagle and
her crew are ready if that dark fleet should
ever come to Sommerland. We are prepared to
die in defense of Sommerland. I know that
ballista won't pierce the hull of those dark
ships, but it will tear the bodies of Giak and
Drakkarim hides. Perhaps the king should be
consulted to have the master of the arsenal
construct some heavy weapons for the Kai Fleet.
Captain Sky_Dragon has executed the task
set upon him well. Perhaps we have found our
new captain of a warship. His actions speak
more than words. It was never been that the
maturity of a person is what makes the
captain, but his actions in the face of the
ememy that do. Commanding a number of ships
set on different tasks show his keen command
leadership ability.
I'd like to
recommend that he be assigned as a captain of a
warship. We have found no other to take up
the mantle as commander of a warship.
