I have
returned to the Monastery with my patrol, our
task in the Fryelund forest now complete. It
pleases me to hear that the work on the
ballistas atop the battlements has been
completed. The Toranese engineers have departed,
leaving me to prepare for the defence of the
Monastery if needs be.
I intend to
increase the number of patrols on the fringes of
the forest, in order that we may be prepared
should the enemy seek to enter the forest
secretly. I have ordered the Monastery armoury
increase production of arrows - The Toranese
engineers brought with them designs for a number
of specialist arrow types used by the Toran
Guild Archers. These should be valuable in the
event of a siege. I have ordered an increase in
Kai patroling the North Watch, and the Durncrag
Tower's beacon is ready to be lit, should we
need to call for reinforcements. Lastly, I have
ordered that my mount, Fire be prepared, as well
as those of all other accomplished riders at the
Monastery, should it become necessary to ride
forth and break the siege.
I hope my
preparations have been enough.
OOC: Any
Kai Lord who wants to jump in, I should have
given you enough ideas in my post above. Go for
it.

Enroute: Travelling from Toran to the Kai
Monastery
I am dispatching this
short letter before making for the Monastery. We
arrived in port at dawn and the White Gale has
set anchor and is in the midst of her refit.
Master Relenoir has provided me with a fine
horse and I should be arriving at the monastery
by dusk.
Grand Master Ghostbear,
Please send out one company of Kai Lords
to assist the Border Rangers along the Durncrag.
I am sending word to Holmgard to request a
copmany of infantry to bolster our forces in the
Monastery in their stead. Regardless the Border
Rangers need the assistance.
Grand
Master SilentStorm,
Assemble all Kai
Lords ranked Master and above in the Kai
Master's Hall at dusk. I wish to address them on
my whereabouts and provide last minute guidance
before they set out for their respective posts.
Regards,
Winterhawk Supreme
Kai Master, Kai Lords of Sommerlund
I know my absense has been long and
shrouded in a veil of mystery. I asked to speak
to you tonight to explain it to you all, so that
there may be no confusion.
I was
summoned to King Kian III's War Council as
intelligence of the impending attack had first
reached the door of the King. During the course
of our discussions we received reports of an
archeological find of historic importance to
Sommerlund and the Kai. There was a danger that
this find would fall into the hands of Drakkarim
Raiders who had also learned of it. I therefore
set out immediately for Kalte aboard the White
Gale
After a long week's journey across
the ice plateau I arrived at the camp of
Loreseeker Perethra of the Brotherhood of the
Crystal Star. My timing was impeccable as the
camp has just finished excavating their find. I
addressed him on the importance of the artifacts
and he agreed to entrust it to me.
At
dusk that night, our camp was attacked by the
Drakkarim. Many noble Sommlending and Brothers
of the Crystal Star perished. However we held
the camp and drove our enemy back into the cold
night.
At my insistance the following
morning we broke camp and made for Ljuk, where
the White Gale was moored. We were tracked by
the Drakkarim the entire journey, but they had
not the numbers to assail us again.
We
departed Ljuk and made best speed for Toran.
This is when my correspondence from aboard the
White Gale began with Grand Masters GhostBear,
BlackCat, and SilentStorm. Secrecy was of the
utmost importance.
Therefore my brothers
I am proud to present the Kai order with this Ancient Suit of Neboran Eagle
Armour and with Ikarna, lost Solsword of Sun
Eagle. May they both provide us with wisdom,
strength, and the advantage we need in the
impending fight.
Now, stand to your
duty, for Kai and Sommerlund!!!
As per
the Supreme Master's orders, I have dispatched a
company of Kai to the Durncrag mountains. Their
presence will doubtless be missed at the
Monastery, but the King has promised to send a
detachment of troops to replace them. The
soldiers of Sommerlund are stout of heart and
strong of arm, and I am sure that they will
perform admirably.
I am concerned about
the silence of the Brotherhood regarding my
request for aid. Perhaps they have concerns of
their own. The mistrust that existed between our
two orders 100 years ago simply does not exist
today. My own magical skills are proof enough of
that.
The Supreme Master returned last
night, bearing Sun Eagle's armour and sword.
Could it be an omen for the struggle ahead?
Whether it is or isn't, these powerful items
will surely serve us well in the conflict ahead.
I am currently considering strategy for
the battle that I feel must surely occur at the
Monastery. Our stocks of arrows are plentiful,
thanks to the efforts of the armoury. I believe
we are stood in good stead to withstand a
lengthy siege. I will shortly order Kai Masters
of Solaris into the Fryelund forest. They shall
work to disrupt the enemy's approach, and to
carry reports of the siege to Holmgard if it
becomes necessary.
The Drakkar fleet
remained in steady pursuit of the Sentinel as it
made speed for Toran. The crew and Kai aboard
watched with trepidation as the enemy prepared
to strike their homeland, but were cheered by
the impending reunion with the remainder of the
fleet.
Suddenly, a malicious, hissing
laugh echoed up from the hold, followed shortly
by a scream of pain and a sickening thud. Grand
Master Falling Phoenix sprang from the hold,
but…his face?! The Grand Master’s features were
quickly dissolving into the hideous wrinkles and
glowing eyes of a Helghast. It laughed again,
its blackfire staff materializing in its hand.
Swinging the staff in a glowing arc above its
head, it loosed blasts of energy and fire in
every direction, scattering crewmembers and deck
planking over the sides. Captain Sky Dragon and
the Kai lords rushed it quickly and it was
swiftly slain, its remains dissolving into dust
and rotten cloth. Those still alive breathed a
collective sigh of relief, until a distressed
call cam from below, “We’re taking on water!”
A sailor rushed up from beneath,
addressing Sky Dragon quickly, “Milord, we’re in
danger of foundering fast. We can get crew down
there bailing, but I’m sure this will slow us
down considerably.” With that, those who heard
looked back at the Drakkar fleet, soon to be
gaining.

I

and birth of Drunga, Captain of The Bor Brigade
am sending this letter to inform you on a
difficult matter.
Lords I dont speak
very well your native language but i'm sure you
will understand. During our march to holmgrad we
had an encounter with some giaks, they were few
in number and coward as usual but not so fast to
dodge lead balls. Of the five only one had minor
wounds and wasn't killed, so we had the time to
"speak" with him. He spoke over an attack to
your Monastery.... an arial attack. we not
belived to his words and.... sent him to his
masters, in different parts of course.
Yesterday an informer at told me you are
preparing to defend yourself from an attack and
if stone is stone and 1 golden crown + 1 golden
crown = 2 crowns, the vile giak was right. If
they will attack will be on the 20 of Perthro
MS5101 or that was what i understood from his
babblings.
At moment my brigade is at
your disposal, and for the first time we offer a
free trial with food and lodging at your charge.
May the sky dont' fall on your heads and
your hearts be firm like steel

Sir,
I would like to thank you
on my behalf for your offer. The Kai Fleet needs
sailors right now, but sadly, I think that
dwarves are better fighters when they are on the
mainland than on a ship. So, I suggest you to go
at the Kai Monastery to meet my Supreme Grand
Master, Winter Hawk. He will discuss with you
about the possibility that your brigade joins
the defensive efforts of the Kai Order in the
upcoming war.
I know you must
be very busy with your own preparations for the
upcoming battle, so I felt it prudent to send
this message to your quarters via messenger,
rather than come and see you personally.
I have received a missive from the
leader of a Dwarven mercenary company regarding
his willingness to fight for the Kai in defence
of the Monastery. I am including this missive
with this message.
I am torn in my
recommendations regarding this matter. As you
know, I am a friend to the Dwarven folk, and
find them to be strong, determined and stoic
fighters. I believe that they would be
beneficial to our defences.
Having said
that, I also understand that the materialism of
a typical dwarf may be disruptive to Monastery
life. If you wish, I am willing to be the point
of contact with the Dwarven commander, one
Brunga Stoneneck, for the duration of their
stay.
This message was

To:
Captain Relenoir Kai Warship: The Emerald
Defender
Fr: Captain Orson Kai
Warship: Wave Dancer
Well met
Captain Relenoir,
Command of The Emerald
Defender is yours. May the ship and
crew serve you well in turning this dark tide
ahead of us all.
The naval port
authority will release the warship to you upon
arriving to Toran. Please load your ship
with the new TORPS and make all speed to the
rallying point.
This is
grave news concerning The Sentinel.
Shall I plot an intercept course to The
Sentinel and try to delay the enemy rapidly
advancing on her?
Also, please give
me a status on the rest of the fleet. So far,
the Wave Dancer is currently alone at the
rallying point. Since i'm the closest to The
Sentinel, I should be able to reach her before
sun down if I can get your approval within
the hour.
Please, send me a
message when you'll finally have the torpedoes
aboard your ship. I will then know that you are
coming to the rallying point. So far, only the
Wave
Dancer and the Solaris are
ready for the battle.

Fr: Admiral Black Cat
Captain,
Please, escort the
Sentinel
to Toran. I'm eager to have the debriefing with
Master Sky Dragon about this incident at sea.
Protect the ship at all cost: the lost of one of
our ships might demoralizes our troops and give
a boost of confidence to the ennemy.
To: Grand Master GhostBear
From Supreme Kai Master Winterhawk
Grand Master GhostBear,
Please
inform the esteemed Brunga Stoneneck that the
Kai Lords appreciate his generous offer. However
the defense of the Monastery is not the sole
concern of the order or of Sommerlund. The
services of his company would be put to far
greater use on the front.
We have taken
his intelligence into consideration in our
tactical defense planning for the Monastery. I
will be presenting a request to the Brotherhood
of the Crystal Star shortly for the support of
two Skyriders to aid in the aerial defense of
The Fryelund. Perhaps the expertise of his
company could be put to better use aboard one of
the Brotherhood's Ships.
Our primary
concern must be with the defense of The Shadow
Pass and Fort Durrepa as possible avenues of
advance for a large force from the darklands.
Also, Grand Master Silent Storm has been
sent to Holmgard temporarily to act as attache
to the King. I will be departing the Monastery
at dawn with Frost, my Durenese Mare, to take
command of the lead elements of the Sommlending
forces as Warmarshall. I will be leaving you
charged with the Defense of the Monastery. I
will need to speak with your personally before
my departure. If you do not see me beofre dawn,
please meet me at the stables prior to my
departure.
Regards,
Winterhawk,
Supreme Kai Master Grand Master of the
Order, Kai Lords of Sommerlund
OOC: With the impending battle
splitting on to two different fronts I suggest
that we move to Chapter 2. We will need "the
story so far" to be the first post in the new
Chapter Thread. (BC or GB can you write this?)
Please simply title the new thread Chapter 2 (Good
Allegiance) until we determine a title
from the thread's direction.
